While pursuing her German language studies abroad in Vienna, Austria in 2008, Amanda took her first yoga class entirely in German (she is fluent in German!). With a background in competitive soccer, Amanda loved the physical and mental challenge of yoga and continued her practice upon return to the states. Amazed by the benefits of her dedicated practice, she earned her 200-hour certification through CorePower Yoga with the mission to share the healing benefits of yoga with others.
Amanda subsequently earned her 25-Hour Next Generation Kids Yoga Certification, 50-hour Yin Yoga Certification, and Street Yoga awarded her a scholarship to participate in their Trauma-Informed Yoga for Youth teacher training where she learned to creatively modify/adapt her teaching skills to better serve vulnerable youth facing life challenges.
Amanda brings her playful, creative energy to her classes to empower students and remind them just how strong they are! She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Neurobiology and a passion for science. Outside the yoga studio you can find her working out at her crossfit gym, eating cupcakes, or chilling with her cats.
Amanda instructs the following:
NGY Kids (ages 6-10)
At this age, class is still playful, blending asana, yoga music, games and meditation. We begin to expand to include more introspective themes such as strength, balance and self-awareness. Instruction will become more advanced for those who are ready to understand more accurately the practice of asana.
